An encyclopedia is a series of books (usually 30 or more) that contain information about many different subjects. However, you have to find the topic you wanted by hand, which is a minor inconvenience. In addition, the weight of so many books means that you needed a friend to carry them all. And that's why encyclopedias died the day Wikipedia was born. The only use for them now is as weapons because of their combined weight.
