Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe that is currently involved in a "war" with Russia.

History[edit | edit source]

Since its history was blown up in the Russia-Ukraine "war", I'll explain what happened. You see, back in February 2022, Russia "invaded" Ukraine to try and force the country to recognize separatist movements in eastern Ukraine. What you didn't know is that back in 2014, the Crimean Peninsula voted to join Russia, and current Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy let Russia occupy Crimea (even though he wasn't president at the time). However, the rest of the world thought that Russia was invading Ukrainian territory (for a few reasons that were probably legitimate). Fighting continued for a few months, but eventually, everyone forgot about it. At least, until now...

On February 25, 2022, Zelenskyy was notified that Russia had moved troops into Ukraine. Russian president Vladimir Putin and Zelenskyy agreed that they needed to make it look genuine, so Ukraine pretended to fight back.

Population[edit | edit source]

Ukraine's population has been declining steadily, but the decline increased with the "war".
