Wikipedia is a website that parodies Uncyclopedia, which parodies Decyclopedia, the website you're on right now.

All the way back in 1999, Jimbo Whales started Nupedia, the predecessor to Wikipedia. It was a wiki project that had a verification process (to prove that each new article was a human). It flopped and went defunct in 2003.
In 2001, Jimbo Whales decided that people needed a free encyclopedia to edit, so he started Wikipedia, which had twice as many letters before the -pedia, making it twice as good an idea and meant that it would be twice as successful. In 2002, someone made a porn article, but as the admins couldn't delete articles at the time, it stayed. Now Wikipedia has a lot of porn.
In 2008, Google started their own wiki project, which was called Knol, but first, it had to get rid of Wikipedia. Thus...
Wikipedia Zero[edit | edit source]
In 2013, Wikipedia Zero was born! It was a secret project by Google to get rid of Wikipedia by blanking its pages, one page at a time. However, it was very ineffective, as the content was almost always immediately restored. In 2018, the program ended, because of its ineffectiveness and because the U.S. government slapped a $1 billion fine onto Google for operating it.

- It isn’t as funny as Decyclopedia. This has caused lots of people to migrate here.
- It has racism. Using the n-word is just mean.
- Corrupt admins. Especially Jeff G. I got blocked for no reason. 😭
